It's the Skills section of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award, delivered by Education Direct Worldwide Ltd under our licensed AAP (Skills) — scope: Life Skills, Science and Technology. You'll learn to use AI tools, build a real project, and document your growth over Bronze, Silver or Gold.
Yes. Education Direct Worldwide Ltd is a licensed Duke of Edinburgh's Award Approved Activity Provider for the Skills section, with the scope Life Skills, Science and Technology. You can verify our listing on the official DofE Opportunity Finder. Participants should still confirm their chosen Skills activity with their DofE Leader before starting.
Yes. The whole programme is delivered online, UK-wide, through weekly modules, evidence uploads and remote Assessor support, so you can complete your Skills section from home at your own pace.
Yes, when the activity meets the Skills section rules: a regular commitment of at least one hour a week for the required duration, measurable progress, and sign-off by a suitable Assessor. Our online programme is delivered by a licensed DofE Approved Activity Provider (Skills) and includes Assessor review, so it is built to meet those rules.
You log your activity time on the learner platform each week, alongside a short knowledge check, a reflection and your project evidence. A week can only be submitted to your Assessor once at least 60 minutes are logged, giving you a dated record you can use for eDofE.
Yes. Confirm your chosen Skills activity with your DofE Leader before starting so it fits your personal DofE programme plan.
You can enrol directly with Education Direct Worldwide for the Skills activity — you don't need your school to sign you up. Your overall DofE programme remains managed through your DofE Licensed Organisation, which is responsible for your DofE participation and final Award approval. We are a DofE Approved Activity Provider for the Skills section only; we do not replace your school, DofE centre, Licensed Organisation or DofE Leader. If your school is interested, ask your teacher if they'd like to support your project.
Bronze is 3 or 6 months — you choose at enrolment. Silver is 6 months for direct entrants, or 3 months if you are progressing from Bronze. Gold is 12 months, or 6 months progressing from Silver. Those durations follow the standard DofE Skills section requirements.
A minimum of one hour per week. Modules are short and self-paced, so you can complete them after school, at weekends or whenever suits your schedule.
No. If you're progressing from a lower award, you start directly at the extension modules (Week 14 for Silver, Week 18 for Gold) and the programme runs for a shorter duration — 3 months from Bronze to Silver, 6 months from Silver to Gold. Choose "Progressing from lower award" in the enrolment wizard to unlock the shorter pathway.
You build one real digital project of your own choosing — for example an AI-assisted app or website concept, a digital portfolio, a small venture idea, or an AI-assisted creative series. The programme guides you from idea to testing, reflection and a final presentation.
No. The programme is beginner-friendly and uses no-code AI tools, creativity, research and entrepreneurship tasks. If you can use a phone, you can complete it.
Just a phone, tablet, or computer with internet access.
Nothing is lost — you simply pick up where you left off. Weeks unlock in sequence rather than expiring, so a missed week only shifts your finish date, and your Assessor can see the full history in your evidence log.
Your AI mentor is always there to help guide you, and your Assessor can be contacted for anything the mentor can't resolve.
You build an evidence portfolio as you go — weekly reflections, goal-setting notes, screenshots, AI prompt examples, market research, project drafts and a final presentation — and receive Assessor review of your activity, commitment and progress. Everything is stored in your evidence log and can be downloaded for eDofE. Follow your DofE Leader's evidence requirements as well.
Yes. On successful completion we issue a personalised Assessor's Report covering your activity, commitment and progress, which you can upload to eDofE to support your Skills section sign-off.
Yes, for participants under 18. Parental or guardian consent is collected during enrolment as part of our Approved Activity Provider safeguarding requirements.
The fee covers the full level: all weekly modules, the AI mentor, the evidence portfolio and logbook, Assessor review and your Assessor's Report. Bronze is £99 upfront (or £39/month). Silver is £249 direct entry, or £129 if you are progressing from Bronze (or £49/month). Gold is £599 direct entry, or £329 if you are progressing from Silver (or £59/month).
